The road to a state championship begins this week for the Long Beach City College women's soccer team. On Monday, the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) released playoff brackets for the upcoming Southern California Regional Playoffs.

The Vikings received the No. 5 seed and will host the winner of No. 12 MiraCosta College and No. 21 El Camino College in a second-round game on Saturday (Nov. 19) as part of a playoff doubleheader with the LBCC men's soccer team. The men are scheduled to play at 5 p.m. followed by the women's game at 7 p.m.

Ticket prices for the CCCAA postseason game are $12 for general admission and $8 for all identified students, faculty, staff, senior citizens age 60 and over, and children under 12 years old.

Long Beach, under head coach Eduardo Nunes, captured a South Coast Conference South Division championship with an 8-1 record. It marked the Vikings' first SCC title since 2005. LBCC enters the postseason with an impressive 15-2-3 overall record and has outscored its opponents by a 65-10 margin.

The Vikings are making their third straight postseason appearance. Last year, LBCC suffered a 4-0 loss at Saddleback College in its opening-round game.

MiraCosta wrapped up the regular season with a 15-4-1 overall record and finished second in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference with a 12-1-1 mark. South Coast Conference South Division foe El Camino was second to the Vikings with a 5-3-1 conference record and is 13-6-2 overall.

Three wins are needed by Long Beach to advance to the 2022 CCCAA State Championships on Dec. 2 & 4 at American River College in Sacramento.
