No. 5 Vikings move on to Round 3 with 2-1 win over No. 21 El Camino

LONG BEACH – The 2022 postseason continues for the Long Beach City College women's soccer team. On Saturday, the No. 5-seeded Vikings defeated No. 21 El Camino College by a final score of 2-1 in Round 2 of the Southern California Regional Playoffs.

LBCC, now 16-2-3 overall, advances to the third round of the playoffs where they will face South Coast Conference rival and No. 4-seeded Mt. San Antonio College on Tuesday (Nov. 22) at 7 p.m. in Walnut.

The Mounties were a 3-0 winner over No. 13 Allan Hancock College in their second-round contest on Saturday night.

The conference foes have met twice this season. On Oct. 14, the Vikings lost 1-0 at Mt. SAC and most recently on Nov. 11, the two teams played in the SCC Tournament final. The two teams battled to scoreless tie in regulation but the Mounties won a penalty kick shootout 5-4 to take the tourney title.

The winner of Tuesday's contest will face either No. 1 Chaffey College or No. 9 College of the Canyons next Saturday in a regional final. Two more wins are needed by Long Beach to advance to the 2022 CCCAA State Championships on Dec. 2 & 4 at American River College in Sacramento.
