Vikings Continue Dominance with 6-2 Win over Southwestern

The Long Beach City College Vikings took down the Southwestern College Jaguars 6-2 on Friday afternoon in the scorching heat. With the win, the Vikings are still undefeated with a 3-0 record.

Goalkeepers Veronica Salcido and Lela Saldic only allowed the Jaguars to one goal each. Saldic also tallied two saves for the game.

Forward Hannah Marshall immediately put her offensive skills on display as she smashed two goals within the first 10 minutes of the game. She earned the hat-trick with the final goal of the first half, with the assist from midfielder Paige Rodriguez.

Forwards Genesis Lopez and Evelyn Sandoval also lent a foot to the back of the Jaguars' net in the first half. Then extra minutes at the end of the game, midfielder Lluvia Mariscal knocked the Vikings' final goal in with help from forward Katie West to sign off on the 6-2 victory.

The Vikings will be back on the pitch on Tuesday, Sept. 12 against Canyons at 3 p.m.
