Women’s Soccer Advances to Round 2 of SoCal Regionals

The No. 3 women's soccer team defeated the No. 14 Ventura College Pirates 1-0 on Saturday evening to advance to the second round of the SoCal Regional Playoffs.

Forward Paige Rodriguez was a consistent threat on offense against the Pirates as she had four shots on goal. Defender Aimee McSparren and midfielder Sydney Trump were also going full throttle offensively as they tallied three shots each. In total, the Vikings bombarded the PIrates with 16 shots on goal.

In the second half, forward Genesis Lopez finally connected with the net to lead the Vikings to a 1-0 victory.

"It is a blessing for us to have so many weapons on our team," said Head Coach Eddie Nunes. "Ventura made it very difficult for us, but because we are so deep, we were eventually able to find the answer."

The women's soccer team will host No. 6 Cypress College on Tuesday, Nov. 21 for Round 2 of the SoCal Regionals at 3 p.m. Pre-purchase your tickets here
