The Long Beach City College women's soccer team claimed a decisive 2-0 victory over Rio Hondo College in the first round of the South Coast Conference Tournament.
Forward Lorena Moreno led the Viking offense, netting both goals in the first half. The first goal came from an assist by Maya Padilla, while Laila Alfadhiel set up the second. The Vikings maintained offensive pressure throughout the game, recording six shots on goal and securing the 2-0 win.
Goalkeeper Jackie Garibay preserved the shutout with a single save over 90 minutes of play.
With the victory, the Vikings advance to Round 2 and will face Pasadena College on Tuesday, November 12, at 4 p.m.
