Swimming & Diving:  LBCC men, women fall to Pasadena in SCC dual meet

Both the Long Beach City College men's and women's swimming & diving teams suffered South Coast Conference dual meet losses to visiting Pasadena City College on Friday at LBCC.

On the women's side, Pasadena edged Long Beach 132-122 while the PCC men beat the Vikings 149-111. The losses dropped the LBCC men to 3-2 in dual meets this season, while the women fell to 1-4.

The Long Beach women won seven events at the meet. Sophomore Hollie Mickelson, and freshmen Allison Zell and Mackenzie Woolvett all won two events each for the Vikings.

Mickelson was first in the 50-yard backstroke (30.17) and in the 3-meter diving (165.00 points). Zell captured the 50-yard breaststroke (35.58) as well as the 100 breaststroke (1:18.50). Woolvett was a winner in the 50 (27.68) and 100-yard butterfly (1:02.55).

The 200-yard medley relay team of Mickelson, Zell, Woolvett, and freshman Kelsey Tomlinson also cruised to first with a time of 1:59.49.

In the men's competition, the Vikings were winners in three events. Sophomore Scott Butler took the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 54.70. Sophomore Brandon Butler was first in the 500-yard freestyle, clocking in at 5:11.59.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Brandon Butler, and freshmen Bradley Adamson, Lance Reeves, and Nemanja Jokanovic were victorious with a time of 3:29.21.  

The LBCC men and women return to action next Friday (Apr 1) when they travel to LA Trade Tech College for a three-way SCC meet.
