Women’s Swimming Take First in 200 Yard Medley Relay at SCC Pentathlon

The Vikings swim team opened their 2020 season at the South Coast Conference Pentathlon at Mt. San Antonio College on Friday, Feb. 14. The women's team place third overall, while the men's team took home fifth place.

The women's team opened the meet with a first place finish in the 200 yard medley relay with sophomore Karissa Qualley starting with backstroke, freshman breast stroker Maggie Damon, and freshman freestyler Rachel Westphal. The team finished with a time of 2:05.49, four seconds ahead of everyone else.

Qualley led the team with top finishes, as she took third in the 100-yard freestyle and fifth in the 100-yard butterfly and backstroke.

Sophomore Michael Baker was a standout for the men's team as he took fifth place in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:06.78, and fifth in the 100-yard backstroke with a 1:07.8.

The swim team be back in action on Saturday, Feb.22 at Mt. San Antonio College.
