LBCC Swim Teams Dominate Pasadena and Cerritos in First-Place Finishes
The Vikings men's and women's swim teams delivered dominant performances, securing first-place victories over Pasadena City College and Cerritos College.
The Long Beach City College men's and women's swim teams delivered dominant performances, securing first-place victories over Pasadena City College and Cerritos College in a conference meet last Friday.
The women's team earned an impressive 223-25 win over Pasadena and a 197-69 victory over Cerritos. Leading the way was Mar Bernal, who claimed first place in all four of her events, including a personal best in the 500 freestyle (5:34.13). Bernal also topped the podium in the 100 free (57.93), 200 free (2:02.72), and contributed to the 200 medley relay victory as the backstroke leg.
Nina Gonzalez added two first-place finishes in the 1000 free (12:16.59) and 200 breaststroke (2:42.41), while Avery White secured wins in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.24) and 200 IM (2:20.27).
The men's team also came out on top, defeating Pasadena 174-92 and Cerritos 187-83. Nathaniel D'Aloisio led the charge with multiple victories, including the 400 free relay (47.63 split), 100 backstroke (55.95), and 200 breaststroke (2:11.44). He also contributed a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay (50 fly, 24.21 split).
Elijah Molina took first place in the 200 fly (2:27.51) and 200 IM (2:14.78), while Sandro Pueyo added victories in the 400 free relay (49.83 split) and 200 free (1:56.20).
"The team really stepped up today and delivered some incredible performances across the board," said Director of Aquatics Bradley Adamson. "We had standout wins, including Mar Bernal taking first place in the 200 Free (2:02.72) and 500 Free (5:34.13), as well as Avery White's strong victory in the 100 Breast (1:14.24) and 200 IM (2:20.27). On the men's side, Sandro Pueyo had an impressive swim in the 100 Free (49.33), while Nathaniel D'Aloisio dominated the 200 Breast (2:11.44). Our relay teams also shined, with Long Beach City A winning the Men's 400 Free Relay in 3:17.10. We saw plenty of personal bests and strong efforts across the board, and this meet was a solid step forward as we continue to build momentum for the rest of the season."
The Vikings will return to action on Friday, March 28, as they face Mt. San Antonio College at 10 a.m.
