Women’s Volleyball: Aces wild in Long Beach sweep of Los Angeles Harbor

The Long Beach City College women's volleyball team needed just 63 minutes to finish off a 25-14, 25-19, 25-17 sweep of visiting Los Angeles Harbor College on Wednesday night at LBCC.

The South Coast Conference victory improved the Vikings to 9-12 overall and 6-6 in conference play with just two matches remaining in the regular season.

Long Beach totaled a season-high 15 aces in the win, led by a season-best six by sophomore setter Melissa Yepez (Paramount HS). She sparked the LBCC offense with 28 assists, six kills, and six digs.

Sophomore Lauren Moreno (Wilson HS) led all with nine kills to go with six digs while sophomore Andrea Morales (Los Alamitos HS) posted eight kills, seven digs, and two aces. Freshman Brianna Ritzius (St. Anthony HS) chipped in with a match-high 15 digs and two aces for the Vikings.

Harbor (2-14, 1-11 SCC) was led by Jacqueline Carey's eight kills.

LBCC returns to action on Friday (Nov 15) when its hosts Los Angeles Trade Tech College in a 6 p.m. SCC match.
