Women's Volleyball: First-team selections Ritzius, Brown top list of four LBCC all-conference honors

Sophomores Briana Ritzius (St. Anthony HS) and Bra'Shwanda Byrd (Poly HS) as well as freshmen Chanel Brown (Lancaster HS) and Emily Hammond (Brethren Christian HS) all earned 2014 postseason All-South Coast Conference honors for the Long Beach City College Vikings as selected by conference coaches.

Ritzius and Brown were first-team honorees while Byrd and Hammond were second-team all-conference picks.

From the libero position, Ritzius ranked ninth in the SCC with 229 digs and a 3.23 digs per set average. Brown, the Vikings' top opposite hitter, ranked fourth in the conference with 254 kills and was fifth at 3.30 kills per set.

Byrd at outside hitter wasn't far behind, ranking seventh with a 3.09 kills average and eighth with 238 kills. Hammond, LBCC's starting setter, averaged 6.12 assists per set to rank her fourth in the conference and was fifth with 471 assists.

Long Beach closed out the season with an 11-12 overall record. Under first-year head coach Trisha Marx, the Vikings finished fourth in the SCC at 8-6.
