Women's Volleyball: Marangos, Pluma earn All-South Coast Conference postseason honors

Long Beach City College sophomores Helen Marangos (Santa Fe HS) and Karissa Pluma (Poly HS) were honored for standout seasons by being named to the All-South Coast Conference postseason team as selected by SCC coaches on Monday. Marangos was a first-team selection at middle blocker while Pluma was a second-team pick at the libero position.

Marangos led the Vikings with a total of 50 blocks and a .65 blocks per set average. She also led LBCC with 31 aces and totaled 127 kills. Her 50 blocks ranked seventh among SCC leaders.

Pluma had a team-high 287 digs and a 3.88 digs per set average on the season to rank fourth among SCC leaders in both categories. She also totaled 40 assists and had 11 aces.

LBCC recently wrapped up the 2015 season with a 7-17 overall record. The Vikings finished sixth in the South Coast Conference at 5-9.
