The No. 12 Long Beach City College women's volleyball squad made easy work of the L.A. Trade Tech Beavers in its season opener on Friday evening by hauling in a 3-0 victory by the final scores of 25-10, 25-14, and 25-16. With the victory, the Vikings push their winning streak to three games in junction with grabbing their first conference victory.

The Vikings looked to many players for offensive production, but sophomore outside Sarah Miller (Long Beach, CA) paved the way once again by hammering home nine kills. She was highly efficient by earning a kill percentage of .818 while adding six digs. Freshman middle Elsa Woods (Long Beach, CA) and sophomore outside Breana Torres (Long Beach, CA) each recorded five kills on the night en route to the offensive slay.

Freshman setter Mary McBride (Paradise Valley, CA) continued to impress as the facilitator by dishing out 28 assists. Sophomore setter Mary Delgado (Lakewood, CA) chipped in eight assists as well.

The defensive efforts were equal amongst the team with freshman defensive specialist Jordan Diaz (La Habra, CA), freshman defensive specialist Mariah Clausen (Bellflower, CA), and freshman outside hitter Fayleen Valdez (Long Beach, CA) each racked up six digs. Freshman middle Telesia Vasquez (Long Beach, CA) had the lone block of the night for the Vikings.

Long Beach (7-2, 1-0 SCC) will continue conference play on Wednesday, September 28 in a showdown with L.A. Harbor (2-8, 0-0 SCC) home at 6 p.m.
