No. 13 Long Beach Women's Volleyball Reigns Supreme in Straight-Set Win over SDCC

The No. 13 Long Beach City College women's volleyball squad took to its home hardwood on Wednesday night to face off against the San Diego City College Knights in a game that featured long rallies and hard-earned points. However, the Vikings proved to be the more dominant team leading to a straight-set win over the Knights by the final scores of 25-18, 25-22, and 25-16.

The game got off to a strong start with a tightly tied up contest that featured numerous back and forth efforts. Sophomore outside Sarah Miller (Long Beach, CA) continued to act as the most aggressive and effective weapon for the Viking's offensive unit by hammering home 17 kills off 34 attempts. Her serving abilities were on point as she sliced up the Knights for four services aces. She was responsible for 21 points on the night.

Sophomore outside Jessica Kaeka (Long Beach, CA) had a solid night by earning a .625 hitting percentage that featured 11 kills. Additionally, she was money on the defensive end by earning 8 digs. Freshman libero Jordan Diaz (La Habra, CA) led the defensive initiatives by preserving the floor with 18 digs to set up the offense.

Freshman setter Mary McBride (Paradise Valley, AZ) continued to act as the engine that runs the offense by earning 41 assists, marking the sixth time this season that she has recorded 40+ assists. Additionally, she added two drop-sot kills and seven digs.

Long Beach remains undefeated in the California Community College Athletic Association South Coast Conference with a 3-0 record and holds an overall record of 10-2. The Vikings will face a tall task this Friday, October 7 as they face off against El Camino (11-2, 3-0 SCC) in conference action. Long Beach will look to snap El Camino's 38 consecutive conference match winning streak that dates back to 2013.
