Long Beach Takes Care of Cerritos in Three Sets

The No. 23 Long Beach City College women's volleyball team played host to the Cerritos College Falcons in South Coast Conference (SCC) action on Wednesday night on home hardwood. With exciting rallies and powerful points, the Vikings earned their third-consecutive, straight-set sweep to push their winning streak to eight games with final set scores reading 25-20, 25-20, and 25-15.

The Vikings looked to leading-killer sophomore outside Sarah Miller who performed at a high level once again. She recorded 16 kills for her second-straight game with double-digit kills. She landed in double-digits in digs with 10 while chipping in one block assist.

Sophomore outside Jessica Kaeka continued to be a valuable asset to the Viking's offensive schemes by recording nine kills. She shined on the defensive end by recording 19 digs which ties for her season high mark. Freshman middle Telesia Vasquez provided a solid foundation in the middle by recording two block assists and hammering home seven kills.

Freshman setter Mary McBride was as efficient as every by lofting up 38 assists. She dumped off one kill and notched 10 digs as well.

The Vikings currently hold their longest winning streak of the season at eight-in-a-row. They will finish up regular-season action in a conference thriller against first-place El Camino at 6 p.m. at home.
