Volleyball: Miller signs letter of intent with Texas A&M Kingsville

An all-state performer from the indoor court as well as the sand, Long Beach City College's Sarah Miller (Lakewood HS) has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

Miller's outstanding sophomore season sparked Olympic gold medalist Misty May-Treanor's first season as head coach of the Vikings last fall and helped put a spotlight on LBCC Volleyball.

In 2016, Miller was named first-team All-State as well as South Coast Conference South Division Most Valuable Player after leading Long Beach to a 19-5 overall record and a berth in the Southern California Regional Playoffs for the first time since 2010. LBCC went 6-2 in SCC South Division to finish in second place.

She led the conference in kills per set (4.78), kills (349), and digs per set (3.47). The Long Beach State bounce back also ranked second in hitting percentage (.333) and was third in digs (253). Miller's 4.78 kills average ranked fifth state-wide.

Miller topped her indoor season by capturing the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) women's beach volleyball doubles championship, teaming with Paige Panter (Southlake, TX) to capture gold this past spring.

The duo also won the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference doubles title, as they led the Vikings to a team state championship runner up finish in LBCC's inaugural season. Under May-Treanor, Long Beach compiled a 17-5 overall mark and went 8-4 in PCAC play.

Miller is set to compete on both the indoor and beach volleyball teams at Texas A&M Kingsville, starting this upcoming fall season. The Javelinas, led by head coach Tanya Allen, compete at the NCAA Division II level and are a member of the Lone Star Conference.
