No. 9 Vikings Thrill Crowd with a Five-Set Victory over Pasadena

In an intense and thrilling volleyball match on Friday that kept fans on the edge of their seats, No. 9 Long Beach City College emerged victorious in a five-set conference battle against No. 18 Pasadena City College. The Vikings came up on top with the 3-2 scoreline and are still undefeated with a historic 12-0 record.

"The game was intense," said freshman libero Kaylani Moncada. "It could have gone both ways, but also it prepped us to be ready physically and mentally for tougher upcoming games and not getting too comfortable.

The match started with a bang as both teams traded powerful spikes and solid blocks. Pasadena took the first set 26-24.

Determined not to fall behind, the Vikings came back strong in the second set. Their hitters found their rhythm, as they clinched the set 25-21, tying the match at 1-1.

The Vikings were dominant in the third set, winning it convincingly with a score of 25-22. Freshmen Enaya Vaielua and Carmelina Infante put immense pressure on Pasadena's reception.

The fourth set was a nail-biter, with both teams refusing to give an inch. Incredible rallies were the highlight of this set. The Lancers narrowly took this set 30-28, putting them ahead 2-1 in the match.

With the match tied at 2-2, it all came down to the fifth and final set. The tension was palpable through the Hall of Champions, but the Vikings maintained their composure. They secured the set 16-14, ultimately winning the match.

"A dozen straight wins and zero losses," said Head Coach and Director of Volleyball Operations Tyler Jackson. "So much to be grateful for, but still a ton of work that needs to be done. Our goal is to focus on one match at a time and continue to give glory to God along this journey."

The Vikings will return to the court on Oct. 6 at East Los Angeles College at 6 p.m.
