No. 1 Long Beach City College Advances to State Championship Tournament After 24-Year Hiatus
The Vikings defeated the Comets in four sets to punch a ticket to the 3C2A State Championships.
The No. 1-ranked Long Beach City College Vikings (23-1) secured their place in the 3C2A State Championship tournament with an electrifying four-set victory (25-17, 21-25, 25-17, 26-24) over No. 8 Palomar College (19-6). This win marks a historic milestone for the Vikings, as they make their first trip to the state championships in 24 years.
The team's ninth consecutive win showcased standout performances, including Ryannah Gagau with eleven kills (.318), Danika Iosua with seven kills (.353), and libero Kaylani Moncada leading the defense with an impressive 19 digs.
Next, the Vikings will face No. 4 Feather River College in the 3C2A State Championship Quarterfinals on Friday, December 6, at 7 p.m. at Mt. San Antonio College.
The Feather River Golden Eagles (28-7) earned their sixth state tournament appearance in the last seven events, advancing after a hard-fought four-set win against San Joaquin Delta College.
