Women’s Water Polo: LBCC earns No. 4 seed for Southern California Regionals

The Long Beach City College women's water polo team suffered an 8-7 loss in sudden death overtime to Cerritos College in the finals of the South Coast Conference Championship tournament to finish in second place on Saturday. Following the loss, LBCC was awarded the No. 4 seed for this week's Southern California Regional Championships at Riverside Community College.

Long Beach went 2-1 at the SCC tournament. The Vikings opened play on Thursday with an easy 19-7 win over Rio Hondo College and came back that afternoon to beat Chaffey College 10-7 in the SCC semifinals.

LBCC takes an 18-9 overall record into the SoCal Regionals. Long Beach will face No. 5 Fullerton College in a quarterfinal match at 2 pm on Friday. A win on Friday would place the Vikings in the 11 am semifinal on Saturday. The SoCal championship final is set for 4 pm on Saturday.

The top two teams from the SoCal Regionals advance to the CCCAA Water Polo State Championship on November 18-19 at Cerritos College.
