Sophomore Taylor Faust (Paramount HS, pictured) scored a game-high five goals to help lead the No. 6 state-ranked Long Beach City College women's water polo team to a 19-4 South Coast Conference win over visiting Pasadena City College on Wednesday.

The victory improved the Vikings to 4-1 overall and evened their conference mark to 1-1.

Sophomore Ranya El-Tawil (Wilson HS) added a goal at the 7:40 mark for LBCC in the third quarter before Pasadena broke up the shutout with consecutive goals by Stephanie Velasco to make the score 12-2 midway through the third.

Backup goalie Kendall Johnson (Poly HS) had an impressive game for Long Beach as she totaled 12 saves. Eight different Vikings scored in the contest as sophomore Jessica Diaz (Esperanza HS) had three goals and six others scored two goals each.

Velasco led Pasadena (0-5, 0-3 SCC) on offense and scored all four Lancer goals.

Long Beach returns to action this weekend (Sep 27-28) when it will compete at the two-day Mt. San Antonio Classic. The Vikings open tournament play on Friday with a 9 a.m. match against Rio Hondo College.
