Water Polo: Oeding, United States capture gold medal at FINA Women’s Water Polo World Cup
Long Beach City College water polo and swimming head coach Chris Oeding will return from Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia with a gold medal after helping lead the United States Water Polo Women’s Senior National Team to a 10-6 win over Australia in the championship final of the FINA World Cup on Sunday.
Long Beach City College water polo and swimming head coach Chris Oeding will return from Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia with a gold medal after helping lead the United States Water Polo Women's Senior National Team to a 10-6 win over Australia in the championship final of the FINA World Cup on Sunday.
Oeding is in his second year as an assistant coach for Adam Krikorian and the U.S. Women's National Team after being named to the staff last summer.
As a player, Oeding was a member of two U.S. Olympic teams and served as team captain at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
He enters his 15th season as head coach at LBCC this fall after leading the Vikings men's water polo team to a CCCAA State Championship in 2013. Oeding and coach Dave Kasa have won six state titles overall, including three men's and three women's championships.
