The Long Beach City College women's water polo team had its five-game winning streak come to an end following its 7-2 South Coast Conference loss to the visiting Chaffey College Panthers on Wednesday.

With the loss, Long Beach dropped to 5-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play while Chaffey improved to 6-3 and 2-0 in the SCC.

After a scoreless first quarter, Chaffey opened the second with three consecutive goals. Freshman Lishtyeri Curiel (Downey HS) finally got the Vikings on the scoreboard, getting her goal with 1:52 left in the half.

Freshman Ashley Diaz' (Esperanza HS) goal with 1:11 to go in the third got the Vikings within two at 4-2, but Chaffey put the game out of reach with three goals in the fourth.

Freshman goalie Ayla Collier (Poly HS) posted six saves for LBCC in the loss.

Long Beach returns to action on Friday (Sep. 26) when it will compete at the two-day Mt. SAC Water Polo Classic tournament.
