Women’s Water Polo: Vikings win fourth straight, beat Rio Hondo 23-4

Long Beach City College sophomore Caroline Nash (Millikan HS) scored six goals and added two assists to help lead the Vikings to a 23-4 South Coast Conference win at Rio Hondo College on Wednesday.

The victory pushed the Vikings winning streak to four games and improved their record to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in SCC play.

Long Beach jumped out to an 8-1 first-quarter lead and was never challenged. Sophomore Makenna Oberst (Los Alamitos HS) had four goals while sophomore Ashley Diaz (Esperanza HS), and freshmen Sam Martinez (Upland HS) and Natalie Nilan (St. Joseph HS) all scored three times. Sophomore Cori Reynolds (Poly HS) also had a good game with a goal and five assists.

Freshman goalie Felecia DePalma (St. Joseph HS) a relatively quiet time in goal and posted two saves.

Long Beach returns to action this weekend (Sept. 25-26) when the Vikings will compete at the two-day Mt. SAC Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
