Women’s Water Polo Dominates in Home Opener

The Viking women's water polo team defeated the East Los Angeles College Huskies 14-8 Wednesday afternoon in their home opener. The women's water polo is fresh off a 26-3 conference win from last week's season opening game at LA Trade-Tech.

Freshman defender Stephany Velazquez led the team and tallied six goals for the Vikings. Freshman attacker Charity Lopes, freshman attacker Harlie Whelan, and sophomore attacker Lindsey Mizrahi all rallied two goals each to keep Long Beach City College on top of its offensive game.

Sophomore goalkeeper Maggie Bennett recorded three saves against the Huskies as the Vikings' last line of solid defense.

Women's water polo will play again on Sept. 15 in the Riverside Invitational at Riverside City College.
