Top-Ranked Vikings Dominate Chaffey College 26-1 in Conference Opener
The No. 1 women's water polo team dominated Chaffey College in a commanding 26-1 victory.
The top-ranked Long Beach City College women's water polo team dominated Chaffey College in a commanding 26-1 victory in their South Coast Conference opener. With this win, the Vikings improve to 8-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
Leilani Sanchez led the offensive onslaught, scoring five goals and adding two assists, while Madalyn Barley and Wendy Garcia contributed four goals each.
On defense, goalkeeper Janay Robertson allowed just one goal in the first half, recording five saves, while Marlene Isaacson shut out the Panthers in the second half, stopping all four shots on goal.
"Our communication on defense was solid," said attacker Avery White. "We focused a lot on counterattacks and staying consistent in our communication."
The Vikings return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 25, for their second conference game against Pasadena City College at 3:00 p.m.
