Women's Cross Country: Long Beach takes fifth at Rio Hondo Invitational

The Long Beach City College women's cross country team totaled 151 points to finish in fifth place out of eight teams at the season-opening Rio Hondo Invitational on Friday.
Freshman Destinie Hernandez (Downey HS) led the Vikings with her 23rd-place finish. She cleared the 5K course at Whittier Narrows in South El Monte with a time of 21:21.
She was followed by freshman Whitney Luna (Western HS) in 30th place at 21:52 and freshman Joceline Clemente (Downey HS) in 40th place at 22:54.

Los Angeles Trade Tech College was first in the team standings with 42 points. Laura Aceves of East Los Angeles College was the individual winner with a time of 18:23.
