Women's Cross Country: Hernandez paces Long Beach at SoCal Preview meet

The Long Beach City College women's cross country team totaled 728 points to finish in 26th place at the Southern California Preview meet at Central Park in Santa Clarita on Friday.

Freshman Destinie Hernandez (Downey HS, pictured) once again led the LBCC women. She cleared the 5K course with a time of 23:12.05 to finish in 134th place. Not far behind was freshman Whitney Luna in 149th place at 24:01.46.

Orange Coast College was first in the final team standings with 40 points. OCC's Karen Silvas was the individual winner with a time of 19:10.83.

The Vikings will have three weeks off from competition and return to action on October 4 at the San Diego Invitational at Mission Bay Park.
