Women’s Cross Country: Long Beach qualifies for SoCal Regionals after sixth-place finish at SCC finals

The Long Beach City College women's cross country team will be returning to the Southern California Regional Championships for the first time since 2012 after qualifying for the event with a sixth-place finish at the South Coast Conference Championships on Friday.

Long Beach totaled 122 points at the SCC finals, just five points back of fourth-place East Los Angeles College and three points behind Pasadena City College in fifth.

Freshman Asia Muldrow (Frederick K.C. Price III Christian HS) once again led the Vikings and medaled with her eighth-place finish. She cleared the 5,000-meter course at the Lunada Bay Little League Fields in Palos Verdes Estates with a time of 22:05.9.

Earning top-25 finishes were freshman Malika Spencer (Westchester HS) in 24th place at 23:40.6 while sophomore Sonnaca Luckey (Gahr HS) was 25th with a time of 23:42.4.

Katherine Lopez (Warren HS), 44th, 28:30.1

Cerritos College won the team title with a score of 29 points while the Falcons' Marylu Pulido was the individual winner with a time of 20:36.9.

The Southern California Regionals are scheduled for Friday (Nov. 6) at Mission Bay Park in San Diego. The women's 5K race is set to start at 11 a.m. followed by the men at noon.
