Viking Women's Cross Country Set to Hit the Trails in CCCAA Championships

For the first time since 2006, the Long Beach City College women's cross country team has qualified for the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championships following a 12th place showing in the Southern California Championships on Friday, November 4th in Orange, CA. The CCCAA Championships will take place in Fresno, CA at Woodward Park.

The Vikings are paced by South Coast Conference (SCC) Female Cross Country Athlete of the Year Alexis Ceballos (Long Beach, CA). Ceballos has led the Viking brigade all season highlighted by her first-place finish in at the SCC Championships. She became the first female Viking runner to win the SCC gold medal since 2005. In addition, she has landed in the top-10 numerous times and has finished in first place twice.

Other top performers for the Vikings include freshman Destiny Diaz (Bellflower, CA) who placed second in the Coach Downey XC Classic with a total time 21:39.1. Freshman Lauryn Jones (Long Beach, CA) has been consistently landing in the top 30 as well.
