Cross Country Qualifies Four For State Championships

The Long Beach City College men's and women's cross country team qualified four athletes at the 2018 SoCal Championships for the State Championships.

On the men's side, the team placed 19th with 499 points. Sophomore Moises Marquez qualified with a 5:05 average mile time to total 20:20.4 and place 33rd out of 190 athletes. Up next for the Vikings was sophomore Rafael Gonzalez in 50th place with a 5:11.3 average mile time and a 20:45 total time to qualify for the 2018 State Championships.

For the women's team, freshman Dasani Zavala and sophomore Lilyanna Figueroa both qualified for State Championships. Zavala came in 55th place with a total time of 20:05 and averaged 6:27.8 per mile. Right next to her in 51st place was Lilyanna Figueroa with a time of 20:05.1.

These four athletes will compete again in the 2018 State Championships on Saturday, Nov. 17th at Woodward Park in Fresno at 8:30 a.m.
