The Vikings Cross Country teams will open their season on Friday, Aug. 30 at the Tour de Cuesta at the Fairbanks Cross Country Course hosted by Cuesta College at 1 p.m.

Last season, both the men's and women's teams qualified for the California Community College Athletic Association State Championships. Freshman Dasani Zavala ran a 20:47.3 and sophomore Lilyanna Figueroa finished with a time of 21:27.5. On the men's side, sophomore Rafael Gonzalez placed 53rd with a time of 21.33.7 and sophomore Moises Marquez came in 25th place out of 168 participants and qualified to the All-State team with a time of 21:00.4.
