Cross Country Advances to the CCCAA State Championships

Both the men's and women's cross country teams placed in the SoCal Regionals Championships over the weekend to advance to the California Community College Athletics Association State Championships.

The women's team placed ninth overall with a score of 255. Freshman Ailene Rios was the first across the finish line of the 5K for the Vikings in 20th place with a time of 19:44.4. Next up for the Vikings was freshman Jocelyn Gutierrez with an average mile time of 6:36.9 in 48th place.

In the men's four-mile run, the Vikings came in 13th with a total of 394 points and an average time of 22:31. Freshman Leonardo Acevedo ran a 21:14.8 and averaged 5:18.7 per mile in 45th place. Then freshman Gerardo Rubio was next across the line for the Vikings with a total time of 22:06.4 and an average of 5:31.6 per mile.

The Vikings will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 20 in the CCCAA State Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno, Calif.
