Cross Country’s Ailene Rios Takes First Place at the Fresno Invitational

The cross-country teams participated in the Fresno Invitational over the weekend and sophomore Ailene Rios was first across the line in the women's 3.1-mile race with a time 19:18.3. This is Rios' second consecutive first place finish, as she also took first in the San Diego XC Kickoff last weekend.

The women's team took 6th place as whole with 161 points. Next up for the Vikings, was freshman Natalie Mejia in the top 20 with a time of 21:40.3.

The men's team placed 11th with 260 points in the four-mile run. Freshman Riki Moscoso led the Vikings with a 22:30.4 overall time and averaged 5:37.6 per mile, while freshman Noah Macias came behind him with a 23:52.0 overall time.

The Long Beach City College Vikings will be running again on Friday, Sept. 23 at the SoCal Regional Preview at Kern Count Soccer Park in Bakersfield.
