LBCC Women's Cross Country qualifies for state championships

Women's Cross Country team qualifies for a consecutive CCCAA State XC Championship Appearance! 

The Viking women finished 13th in the team standings earning them a ticket to the CCCAA XC State Championships in Fresno on November 19th, 2022. The women were led by sophomore Ailene Rios who cracked the 19-minute barrier running a lifetime best 18:54.9. Rios was the 15th overall finisher in the race individually in a pack of 137 student-athletes throughout these regional championships. Natalie Mejia was consistent in her second-place finish for the Vikings earning a season-best time of 20:34.8, followed by our remaining group of Vikings, Frida Hernandez (22:39.5), Jennifer Martinez (22:48.2), Katlyn Moratoya (22:49.2), Lorena Galaviz (22:49.7), and Jamileth Alvarado (23:20.8). 

On the men's side, the team came up just two places outside of qualifying as a team finishing 16th overall in the team standings, however, leaders of the Vikings Men's team were yet able to qualify individually for the CCAA XC State Championships. Freshman standout Riki Moscoso placed 60th overall in the field of 190 student-athletes in the region to earn a qualifying bid while Noah Macias also qualified as an individual placing 78th overall. 

The nine Viking Women and Men are set to travel to the historical Woodward Park Course in Fresno for the 2022 Cross Country State Championship hosted by Clovis Community College. The women's race is at 10:00 A.M and the men's race is at 11:00 A.M. Go Vikings!
