Long Beach City College totaled a season-high 14 hits but also set a new high mark by leaving 12 runners on base in a narrow 6-5 non-conference loss at Oxnard College on Saturday. LBCC’s third straight loss dropped the Vikings to 1-3 overall.

Sophomore Schuyler Hill (pictured) struck out nine batters over a dominant seven-inning effort to help lead Long Beach City College to a 5-1 win against two-time defending state champion Orange Coast College in the Vikings' season opener on Saturday at Joe Hicks Memorial Field.
