In one of the most thrilling matches in Long Beach City College men’s volleyball history, the Vikings erased a 23-19 Set 4 deficit and prevailed in five to defeat the Golden West College Rustlers in the second semifinal of the 2016 California Community College Athletic Association State Championship at Pierce College in Woodland Hills.

Men's Volleyball: Long Beach sweeps Santa Barbara for 14th straight win

Sophomore Joshua Nehls had 15 kills and eight digs while freshman Andrew Pearson totaled 11 kills, 11 digs, and four blocks to help lead Long Beach City College to its 14th straight victory, a 25-16, 26-24, 25-18 sweep of visiting Santa Barbara City College on Friday.

Long Beach City College pushed its winning streak to eight matches thanks to its 3-1 win at Santa Barbara City College on Wednesday in both teams’ Western State Conference opener. LBCC dropped the first set 18-25 before surging to 25-17, 26-24, and 25-19 victories to pull out the match win.
