Long Beach City College bounced back from Friday's loss at Pasadena City College to earn a pair of non-conference wins at San Diego City College on Saturday. The Vikings opened with a 12-2 win over Los Angeles Mission College and closed out the day with a 7-2 victory against host San Diego City.

In the win over SDCC, Long Beach totaled 11 hits but had to overcome four errors to pull out the win. Trailing 1-0, the Vikings rallied for five runs in the top of the sixth inning and added two more in the seventh to complete the come-from-behind victory.

Freshman Tristin Zazueta (Paramount HS) got the rally going with her RBI double to drive in sophomore Doreen Corella (San Pedro HS). Sophomore Brianna Alvarez (Montebello HS) scored on a wild pitch before sophomore Mariah Jacobo (La Serna HS) smacked a two-run double to score freshman Daisy Velasquez (Bellflower HS) and Zazueta. Freshman Mitzy Moreno (Downey HS) scored the final run in the sixth when she came home on sophomore Erika Balboa's (Gahr HS) misplayed sacrifice bunt.

In the seventh, sophomore Andrea Barba (Cypress HS) delivered the Vikings' biggest hit of the day, a two-run triple that brought home Balboa and Jacobo.

Sophomore Brooke Loard (Millikan HS) picked up the win to improve to 4-5 overall. She allowed one earned run and four hits in the complete-game effort.

Jacobo (2 for 4, 2 RBI) and Balboa (2 for 3, 1 run) led LBCC at the plate with two hits each.

Long Beach has won five of its last seven games and improved to 10-8 with Saturday's victories. The Vikings return to action on Tuesday (Mar. 8) when they travel to East Los Angeles College for a 3 p.m. South Coast Conference game.
