Sophomore Jonathan Sanders ran 52.35 to win the 400 meter hurdles at the 2011 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Track and Field State Championships on Saturday at American River College in Sacramento.

The Long Beach City College men’s track and field team totaled 25 points for 14th place, while the LBCC women earned one point to tie for 27th place at the Southern California Regional Finals on Friday (May 6) at Mt. San Antonio College.

The Long Beach City College track and field team has qualified in 10 events for Friday’s (May 13) Southern California Regional Championships.

The Long Beach City College track and field team totaled eight season-best marks as well as 11 top-three finishes at the Pasadena Invitational on Saturday at Pasadena City College.

Both the Long Beach City College men’s and women’s track and field teams were in action on Friday at the California Relays at Cerritos College.

The Long Beach City College men's track and field program displayed the potential of a top caliber squad on Saturday at the Cal State Northridge Invitational. Amongst the elite community college programs and dozens of universities the LBCC men showed they can match up with anyone. The Vikings turned out season bests and several noteworthy performances, many of which rank in the coveted list of top 10 in the state.

The 2011 track and field season for Long Beach City College men and women got underway on Friday with the South Coast Conference All-Comers meet at Mt. San Antonio College. Although team scores were not kept, the Viking men came away with wins in four events and produced eight top-five showings, while the LBCC women totaled four top-five finishes.
