Track & Field Qualifies for State Championships

The Long Beach City College track & field team qualified sophomore Sherrice Pelle, freshman Tylor Wallace, sophomores Darnelle Harris and Mark Jones, freshmen Marquel Angelo and Tyler Slack for the 2018 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championships at Bakersfield College.

Pelle qualifies in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.07. She placed fifth overall at the CCCAA Regional Finals over the past weekend to help earn her a spot at the State Championships.

Long distance runner Wallace recently placed ninth in the CCCAA Regional Finals in the 1500 meter run with a 4:03.11 to advance him to the State Championships. Wallace has been consistent in the distance runs with placing first overall in the 800 meter run at the Arnie Robinson Twilight and in the South Coast Conference Finals.

Harris, Jones, Angelo and Slack all qualified for the State Championships in the 4x100 relay. They recently took fifth place in the CCCAA Regionals with a 42.95 time. They have improved their time by two seconds since the South Coast Conference Finals.

The CCCAA State Championships will be hosted on Friday, May 18 and Saturday, May 19 at Bakersfield College.
