Long Beach City College's goal of reaching the State Championships Final Four for the first time since 1988 came up two games short as the fourth-seeded Vikings suffered a 45-39 loss to No. 5 Irvine Valley College on Wednesday night in a third-round Southern California Regional playoff game at the LBCC Hall of Champions Gym.

Thanks to its 64-51 playoff win over No. 13 Riverside City College on Saturday night, the No. 4 seeded Long Beach City College Vikings have advanced to Round 3 of the Southern California Regional Playoffs and will host the No. 5 Irvine Valley College Lasers on Wednesday (Mar. 2) at 7 p.m. at the LBCC Hall of Champions Gym.

The impressive 2015-16 season for the Long Beach City College women's basketball team will extend to the postseason as the Vikings were named the No. 4 seed for the upcoming Southern California Regional Playoffs.
