The impressive 2015-16 season for the Long Beach City College women's basketball team will extend to the postseason as the Vikings were named the No. 4 seed for the upcoming Southern California Regional Playoffs. Also on Monday, LBCC racked up the honors, earning a pair of All-State accolades and seven all-conference awards.

Leading the way for the Vikings is freshman guard Sopavy Seng (Poly HS). She was named second-team All-State after being honored as the South Coast Conference South Division Co-Player of the Year earlier in the day. Seng, who shares the SCC honor with Meghan Peneueta from El Camino College, was a leader on the court for the Vikings. For the season, Seng averaged 8.5 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.8 steals, and 1.7 assists per game.

Joining Seng on the All-State team is sophomore forward Lupe Cruz (South East HS). She was a third-team All-State selection and was also named first-team All-SCC South Division. Cruz led the Vikings with 9.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.

Bringing home another top conference honor was Michael Anderson as he was named the SCC South Division Coach of the Year. Anderson led the Vikings to a 23-5 overall record and a SCC South Division championship with a 7-1 mark as they head to the postseason. It was the second time for Anderson being named coach of the year as he last won the honor in 2014.

Sophomore guard Taylor Smith (Redondo Union HS) was also a first-team All-SCC South selection for the Vikings. She averaged 6.4 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.

Earning second-team All-SCC South honors for Long Beach were sophomore guard Imani Johnson (Carson HS), freshman guard Paris Lucci (Palos Verdes Peninsula HS), and freshman forward Miranda Martinez (El Dorado HS).

No. 4 LBCC will open the Southern California Regional Playoffs on Saturday (Feb. 27) at 7 p.m. in a second-round game against No. 13 Riverside City College at the Hall of Champions Gym.
