Vikings Dominate Bakersfield in Straight Sets to Advance in SoCal Regional Playoffs

The No. 1-ranked women's volleyball team (22-1) showcased their dominance with a decisive 3-0 sweep over No. 16 Bakersfield College in Round 2 of the Southern California Regional Playoffs on Tuesday evening. The Vikings claimed victory with set scores of 25-21, 25-9, and 26-24.
Leading the offensive effort, Jubilee Allen and Ryannah Gagau each delivered 11 kills, with Allen adding a commanding presence at the net with four blocks. Defensively, Kaylani Moncada anchored the back row, recording an impressive 24 digs and contributing three service aces. Enaya Vaielua orchestrated the offense masterfully, dishing out 26 assists to guide the Vikings to the win.
"In our pregame meeting, we talked about making everything personal, and we made every point personal. We played for each other, and for our girls that were out, our coach, we played for everybody and we got the win because of it and our sisterhood," said Alanna Jones.
With this victory, the Vikings advance to Round 3, where they will host No. 8 Palomar College (19-5) on Saturday, Nov. 30, at 6 p.m. in the Hall of Champions.
"We started off slow, but came together beautifully in the second set," said Director of Volleyball Operations and Head Coach Tyler Jackson. "In the third set we were down by like ten points, but to see them come back and accept the challenge was amazing. To see the team turn it around is everything, so now we will be ready for round 3 and hopefully get another win."
Tickets for the highly anticipated matchup are $12 for general admission and $8 for students, faculty, staff, seniors (60+), and children under 12.
