SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA REGIONALS BRACKET

The South Coast Conference champion Long Beach City College women's water polo team has received the No. 5 seed for this weekend Southern California Regional Championship tournament. The three-day event runs November 12-14 at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.

LBCC is 19-9 overall after defeating Mt. SAC 8-6 in the South Coast Conference championship final on Saturday. The Vikings get a first-round bye at the regionals and will face No. 4 Golden West College on Friday at 3:15 p.m.

Long Beach has faced Golden West three times this season, winning once. On October 17, the Vikings pulled off their biggest win of the season, an 11-10 sudden death overtime victory at Golden West.

The winner of Friday's game would likely take on top-seeded Riverside City College in Saturday morning's 11 a.m. semifinal. The Southern California championship final is set for Saturday at 4 p.m. The top two teams from the Southern California Regionals advance to the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Water Polo State Championship on November 20-21 at Pasadena City College.

LBCC looks to return to the State Championships for the first time since 2010. The Long Beach women last won a state title in 2006.

Last season, the Vikings advanced to the Southern California Regionals and lost an opening-round game by a final score of 9-5 to Santa Barbara City College.
