Cross Country To Compete in the State Championships This Weekend

Both the men's and women's cross-country teams placed in the top 13 teams at the SoCal Regionals Championships to advance to the California Community College Athletics Association State Championships.

This is the first time the men's cross-country team advanced as a team to the State Championships since 2015, and the first time for the women's team since 2016.

At the SoCal Regionals, the women's team placed ninth overall and freshman Ailene Rios was the first Viking across the finish line of the 5K in 20th place with a time of 19:44.4. On the men's side, the Vikings came in 13th with a total of 394 points and an average time of 22:31. First up for the Vikings was freshman Leonardo Acevedo, who averaged 5:18.7 per mile and came in 45th place.  

The CCCAA State Championships are being held at Woodward Park in Fresno, Calif. on Saturday, Nov. 20. Start time for the women is at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. for the men.
