The Long Beach City College swim & dive team competed at Pasadena last Friday against Pasadena and Rio Hondo College in their third South Coast Conference meet.
The Long Beach City College swim and & dive team hosted Cerritos College and Chaffey College in their first home conference meet at the new aquatics complex.
The Long Beach City College men’s and women’s swim teams qualified two athletes to compete in the CCCAA State Championships at De Anza College May 2- 4.
Long Beach City College has qualified for five individual events and three relays for the upcoming California Community College Athletic Association Swimming & Diving Championships at East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park. The three-day event runs May 5-7.
Long Beach City College freshman Mark Denison was named the South Coast Conference Co-Swimmer of the Year after an amazing performance at the SCC Championship finals over the weekend. Denison won three events and was a member of three first-place relay teams to help lead the Vikings to 529 team points and a second-place overall finish.
The Long Beach City College Men’s Swimming & Diving team earned a pair of South Coast Conference dual-meet wins on Friday at Cerritos College to move to 3-0 on the season. LBCC took first place in 11 of 15 events at the three-way meet on its way to a 210-34 win over Los Angeles Trade-Tech and a 166-108 victory against host Cerritos.
Long Beach City College opened its South Coast Conference dual meet schedule with a 179-64 win at Pasadena City College on Friday. The Long Beach men won 12 out of 15 events at the dual meet on their way to the easy victory.
The Long Beach City College men’s swimming and diving team put together a great team effort to total 506 points and finish in third place at the 2015 South Coast Conference Championships. The conference finals ran April 16-18 at East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park.
Long Beach City College student-athletes are not only winners on the field (or in the pool in this case), but also in the classroom. The men’s swimming and diving team is a shining example as the squad will be honored on Wednesday by the California Community College Athletic Association as a Scholar Team.
