Men’s Cross Country: Vikings finish seventh at highly-competitive Fresno Invitational

The Long Beach City College men's cross country team got a sneak preview at this season's state championship course as the Vikings totaled 243 points to finish in seventh place out of 17 teams at the Fresno Invitational at Woodward Park on Friday.

Once again, sophomore Gerardo Salazar (Lakewood HS) led the Vikings with his 19th-place finish. He cleared the four-mile course with a time of 21:45.7.

LBCC was fifth among Southern California teams. American River College won the team championship with 38 points, followed by Mt. San Antonio College (58 points), and Hartnell College (68 points) rounding out the top three. Glendale College's Vahagn Isayan was the top individual, taking first place with a time of 20:42.9.

Long Beach returns to action next Friday (Sept. 18) when it will compete at the SoCal Preview Meet at Mission Bay Park in San Diego.
