Men’s Basketball: Staton signs with Cal State San Bernardino, Spencer heads to Benedict College

Long Beach City College men’s basketball head coach Barry Barnes is proud to announce that two-year standouts Brandon Staton (Poly HS) and Chris Spencer (Jordan HS) have both signed with four-year colleges and are set to begin classes at those institutions this fall. Staton is staying in Southern California to play at California State University, San Bernardino while Spencer is heading east to Benedict College in South Carolina.

Basketball: Former Viking Bruce Fraser helps lead Warriors to NBA Championship

Long Beach City College basketball had its own ties to the recently crowned NBA-champion Golden State Warriors. Former Viking player Bruce Fraser, son of former legendary LBCC head coach Bill Fraser, served as an assistant coach of player development for Steve Kerr's Warriors coaching staff.

Men’s Basketball: Vikings rack up postseason honors after successful 2014-15 campaign

Long Beach City College sophomores Brandon Staton (left) and Chris Spencer (center) earned All-State recognition while head coach Barry Barnes (right) was named the South Coast Conference South Division Coach of the Year to top a list of five all-conference honors following an impressive 2014-15 men’s basketball season.

Men’s Basketball: Playoff run ends with 92-73 loss to East Los Angeles

The Vikings postseason run came to a crashing halt following No. 8 Long Beach City College’s 92-73 loss to No. 13 East Los Angeles College in Round 4 of the Southern California Regional Playoffs on Saturday at LBCC’s Hall of Champions Gym.

Men’s Basketball: Long Beach upsets top seed Mt. SAC to advance in Southern California Playoffs

Sophomore guard Brandon Staton scored a game-high 22 points while freshman guard Michael Shivers (pictured) also had a big game with 19 points as No. 8 seeded Long Beach City College knocked off No. 1 seed Mt. San Antonio College by a final score of 75-72 in the third round of the 2015 Southern California Regional Playoffs.

This weekend’s weather forecast in Southern California calls for a major storm but it was the Long Beach City College men’s basketball team that rained down three-pointers at Santa Ana College on Wednesday night.
