Sophomores Briana Ritzius and Bra'Shwanda Byrd as well as freshmen Chanel Brown and Emily Hammond all earned 2014 postseason All-South Coast Conference honors for the Long Beach City College Vikings as selected by conference coaches.

The Long Beach City College women’s volleyball went out on a winning note, closing the 2014 season with a marathon 25-23, 20-25, 25-20, 23-25, 16-14 victory over the visiting East Los Angeles College Huskies on Wednesday at LBCC.

Freshman Chanel Brown totaled 17 kills to help lead the Long Beach City College women’s volleyball team to a 25-9, 25-20, 25-21 sweep of visiting Pasadena City College on Wednesday at LBCC.

It wasn’t quite the way new women’s volleyball head coach Trisha Marx envisioned the start of her Long Beach City College career. On Friday, the Vikings opened the regular season with a 3-0 (26-24, 25-17, 25-18) loss to San Diego Mesa, followed by a 3-1 (25-18, 25-16, 21-25, 25-15) defeat to Chaffey College at home as part of the LBCC Quad Tournament.

Director of Athletics Joe Cascio has announced the hiring of Trisha Marx as Long Beach City College's new head coach of women's volleyball for the upcoming fall season. Marx comes to LBCC with coaching experience at the California community college, club, and high school levels.
