Jim Ferguson (Basketball, 1969 & 1970): As a sophomore in 1970, Ferguson helped lead Long Beach to a Metropolitan Conference championship as well as a runner-up finish at the State Championships. That season he was named first-team all-conference as he set school records for the most assists in a season and also become LBCC’s single-season free throw percentage leader. Ferguson finished out his collegiate career at Texas Christian University (1971 & 1972) and was twice named All-Southwest Conference and all-district. Just like at LBCC, Ferguson set the single season assists and free throw percentage records at TCU. After college ball, Ferguson was a Moore League coach in basketball and golf for 33 years (1973-2006).
