Tim Russell (Track & Field/Football, 1961-63): Russell was a two-sport standout for LBCC, but excelled on the track. He was the Metropolitan Conference champion in the 100 and 220 yards in 1962 and 1963 while setting school records in the those events as well as the 440 yards. Russell helped lead the Vikings to the 1963 State Championship after finishing second in the 100 and fourth in the 220. As a freshman in 1962, he was second in the 100 and 220 at the Southern California and State Championship meets. On the football field, Russell was a member of the 1962 National Championship Viking squad. Following LBCC, Russell went to Brigham Young University for track and football. In 1964, he set BYU records in the 100 and 220 and earned All-America status as a member of the mile relay. As a senior in 1965, his mile relay squad won a Western Athletic Conference championship.
