Crystal Irving (Track & Field, 1989 & 1990): Irving was a two-time conference and state champion in the 200 and 400 meters and was also a member of the 1990 conference and state champion mile relay team. She was named Junior College All-American as a sophomore before taking her talents to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Irving had just as impressive career at UNLV, setting both the indoor (52.84) and outdoor (51.71) 400 meter records at the school. She won indoor and outdoor conference championships (1991 & 1992) in the 400 as well as the 200 meters in 1992. At the NCAA Championships, Irving finished second in the indoors 200, and fourth in the outdoors 400. Irving was a member of the USA National Team from 1993-96 and captured gold and silver medals at the Pan-Am Games. She currently serves as girl’s athletic director at Long Beach Poly High School as well as head coach of the highly successful Poly girl’s track and field team.
